Armored Painting was founded in March 2020 by Nelson Martinez and Jose Robledo — two Rio Grande Valley natives and combat veterans who completed two tours in Iraq. Driven by a commitment to service and community, they set out to build a top-tier painting company the RGV deserved.

The Team Behind Armored Painting
Jose Robledo
Co-Owner · U.S. Marine Corps Combat Veteran
Jose Robledo is the co-owner of Armored Painting, where he oversees operations, project execution, and quality control. A U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran, Jose served two tours in Iraq, developing the discipline, leadership, and commitment to excellence that continue to shape his approach to every project.
Jose earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Management from the University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) and has spent years managing large-scale commercial construction projects, including the development of apartment communities and restaurants. His experience coordinating complex builds, managing schedules, and maintaining high standards gives clients confidence that every painting project is completed professionally, efficiently, and with exceptional attention to detail.
In addition to his work at Armored Painting, Jose serves as an adjunct professor at South Texas College, where he enjoys sharing his industry knowledge and mentoring the next generation of professionals.
Jose believes that quality craftsmanship starts with proper preparation and clear communication. Whether leading a residential repaint or a commercial project, he is committed to delivering results that stand the test of time. He is married and the proud father of one beautiful daughter, and considers integrity, service, and family to be the foundation of both his personal life and his business.
Nelson Martinez
Co-Owner · U.S. Army Combat Veteran
Nelson Martinez is the co-owner of Armored Painting, where he helps lead the company's vision, sales, marketing, customer experience, and day-to-day operations. A U.S. Army combat veteran, Nelson served two tours in Iraq, where he learned the value of discipline, leadership, teamwork, and doing things the right way, even under pressure.
Nelson earned his Bachelor's degree in Business and has several years of experience in the paint industry, including working with Sherwin-Williams in both management and sales roles. That experience gave him a strong understanding of coatings, surface preparation, product selection, and what it takes to deliver a lasting finish.
Today, Nelson uses that knowledge to help homeowners and business owners feel confident throughout the painting process. His focus is on clear communication, honest recommendations, and building a company that customers can trust before, during, and after the project.
Outside of Armored Painting, Nelson is passionate about family, faith, veteran service, and helping other contractors grow in business. He is married and the proud father of two boys and one girl. He believes that integrity, service, and hard work are the foundation of everything he does.
